The RCOE is well on its way to taking our region to the world, showcasing innovation and collaboration across traditional and emerging sectors, forging a path as a global leader on how to connect resources across our region and the world. These collaborations are achieved through the direct management or support of various projects across the Greater Whitsunday region.

PAGET, QUEENSLAND

Stage 2 | Future Industries Hub

Purpose: To focus on incubating new industries, including a pilot processing plant to support activities around critical minerals, reprocessing of tailings and other precious metals.

Goals: Focus on training and R & D | Bringing together industry OEM and METS in problem solving capacity | Grow industry connections and partnerships | Gain greater exposure to agriculture, sugar and biofutures sectors | Lead technology-based safety initiatives such as utilising AI

 

MORANBAH, QUEENSLAND

Stage 3 | Isaac Resource Excellence Precinct

Purpose: To develop a more skilled and diversified workforce, including deeper First Nations partnerships, to power the Isaac region and ‘engergise the world’.

Goals: Grow and diversify the industry | Strengthen ESG credentials and protect the environment | Foster coexistance and sustainable communities | Ensure strong and genuine First Nations partnerships | Build a safe and resilient future workforce | Improve regulatory efficiency

 

In partnership with Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3), Resources Centre of Excellence (RCOE) and major funding partner Local Buying Foundation (LBF).

Decarbonisation Accelerated Project

Purpose: Is to secure the future viability of our traditional sectors, by supporting businesses on the pathway to decarbonisation, while at the same time, creating opportunities in emerging sectors which have decarbonised principles.

The Decarbonisation Accelerated project will amplifying regional opportunities to ensure long term economic growth and resilience across the Greater Whitsunday region.

  • Help shape our regional identity for a prosperous future for the Greater Whitsunday region.

 

Pit to Port

The Resources Centre for Excellence (RCOE) has launched a pilot program with BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) to understand what opportunities there are for integrating circular principles along the whole value chain, enhancing outcomes organisationally, environmentally and socially. This “Pit to Port” project provides a foundation for this concept to be extended to a regional context.
