Each speaker shared their views on the topic drawing from their own experience and knowledge.
Jarrah Steen from Greater Whitsunday Alliance shared her key take home facts from the session.
1. We need industry leadership in shared ESG goals
2. Collaboration is key
3. We need to be focusing on the opportunities and pursuing economic rehabilitation - not waiting for regulation to set a minimum standard
Understanding ESG is complex and ever changing and really comes down to understanding and meeting the expectations of key stakeholders.
We need to get ahead of regulations and requirements to take advantage of the opportunities influenced by ESG - if we wait to respond to imposed regulations we will be missing the important opportunities to lead in ESG and profit performance.
We need to find the opportunities to both solve environmental challenges and create revenue streams.
Smaller companies, like those in our Greater Whitsunday METS sector, have the agility and adaptability to provide solutions in addressing ESG targets.
